I have a high fidelity sound system in my living room and for my computer and being able to hear more depth and clarity when listening to music will be greatly appreciated. The music will sound closer to the original recording. We have been wanting this quality for some time and it's a joy to hear that it's going to be happening. I think I speak for everyone with high fidelity music equipment that this update coming to Spotify is a huge deal. Lossless quality has been one of the most requested features here in the Spotify Community, and now it is becoming a reality. Still, a deep-pocketed competitor is by no means a death sentence - after all, Amazon Music unveiled an HD option in 2019, and those smaller platforms have managed just fine. But the news has to send a shudder down the spines of music execs at places like TIDAL, Deezer, and Qobuz, where high-end audio fidelity is one of the features that has allowed them to stand out. Spotify is remaining tight-lipped on their Hi-Fi plans, declining to reveal what sized audio files they’ll be rolling out, when the new tier will introduced, or how much it will cost.
